SARAHJUKU SOMEWHERE My Story - SARAHJUKU SOMEWHERE

my story

what is seen vs. reality

While most people see a happy and charismatic, hyper-independent, successful career woman, I’ve long struggled on the inside. I was finally diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder (PDD) in January 2022 and have been on antidepressants ever since.

my healing journey

When I reached my lowest point in Fall 2019, I started therapy for the second time and learned so much about myself, relationships, and life. It helped me jump head first into my healing process… one that I had numbed and avoided for decades. I learned more about my fearful avoidant attachment, that my perfectionism is a trauma response, and how to navigate my depression.

sharing experiences

Each time I share my story, I find that others open up more. It’s like we all struggle alone until we know someone is experiencing the same thing that we are. This is why I’m blogging as an outlet about my life’s journey. I hope that if you’re reading, maybe I’m helping you along your’s too.

joy of the jump start

Whenever I am feeling anxious or depressed, I find that all I need is a spark to help me get back on my feet, but it’s the toughest thing to get started. Traveling, especially solo, is one of my favorite ways to reconnect with myself. So here, I’ll write about my jump start — to push boundaries, explore new areas, and move forward — and I’m excited for you to join me!
